To take Ozempic or not!

I’ve been a type 2 diabetic for several years. I have been on a variety of diabetic medicines. As of this blog, I am taking insulin and another injectable diabetic drug. My morning numbers aren’t bad, but there is plenty of room for improvement with my numbers during the day. My during-the-day numbers have much to do with what I eat and not exercising regularly, and the steroids that I take for my RA.
I read that Ozempic, along with diet changes and exercise, is used with people who have type 2 diabetes, and although not a weight loss drug, some people have lost weight on Ozempic.
I also read that Ozempic can reduce the risk of significant cardiovascular events like heart attack, stroke, or death in adults with type 2 diabetes. This information was beneficial because I have heart disease.
The other side effects of Ozempic that concern me is the possibility of thyroid tumors, including cancer—and inflammation of the pancreas. There are some other side effects, along with the above as well.
The benefit is that Ozempic will help with my blood sugar levels. If my Diabetes is under control, my kidneys and heart will be healthier, and maybe I can get off some of my meds.
No matter my decision, I have to do better because I don’t want to be on more meds or Dialysis, and I surely don’t want my heart disease to worsen. As always, let’s keep each other in Prayer And
Until the next blog, be blessed.
