Falling!

I was in the kitchen two weeks ago Saturday with Jack (my dog). He was napping, and I was writing at the kitchen table. My grands were about, so this was my peace. I was waiting for my medication to be delivered while I was writing.
About 30 minutes later, I got a text that my meds were at the door. I jumped up from the kitchen table to rush through the living room to the outside but never made it.
I slipped on the kitchen floor (I slipped on my pain patch that dropped off my chest), and my right knee took the brunt of the fall. The amusing thing (though it’s a stretch) is that my daughter was unaware I had fallen. The pharmacy texted me while I was on the phone with her; she was so into what we were discussing my fall went unnoticed.
The pain in my knee was so intense that I couldn’t shout across the kitchen to my phone on the other side. Of course, I made a loud thump when I fell, which caused my grandson to run into the kitchen. Grandma, “he screamed, ” Grandma, are you alright?! He fell to the kitchen floor to help me up (what a sweetheart) off the floor. That was a challenge for him (he is only 13 years old), more height than weight. However, he got me off the floor (bless his little heart), helping his grandma off the floor. When he realized his mother was still on the phone, he told her I had fallen and couldn’t get up. LOL!
Then she became frantic, worried that I had hurt myself, which I had. I didn’t want to go to the ER. I felt they would have treated me as if I were an unstable older adult. So, because my children and older grandson badgered me about seeing a doctor, I went to the walk-in clinic. I had an x-ray, and my knee wasn’t broken or spained. The doctor told me to ice my knee, elevate it, and rest, which I did.
The moral of this story (there isn’t one) is that I should have been watching where I was walking because the trauma from this injury to my knee will be with me for a long time.
Until the next blog, be Blessed.

Is he relevant to my story? No, but he is so darn cute!
