March is such a fabulous month, not only because it’s my birthday month but also because it celebrates various awareness campaigns. One that had interested me was the National Nutrition Month.
My Google search revealed that National Nutrition Month originated in 1973 as National Nutrition Week, which was organized by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. In 1980, the week-long event became a month-long event. Google also stated that the National Nutrition Month campaign educates folks about making better food choices and promotes more exercise daily.
National Nutrition Month features several activities, including events at Shop-rite locations in Manchester and Canton, Connecticut. Connecticut Food Share is hosting its Walk Against Hunger at Dunkin Park in Hartford, CT, on April 26. How to eat more Plant-Based Foods- March 14, 2025, at the Mansfield Senior Center in Storrs, Mansfield, CT.
I gravitated to National Nutrition Month because nutrition is an issue for me. I am 80% better with my food choices, but as a type 2 diabetic, that’s not enough. My exercise routine is relatively poor because I rarely exercise.
National Nutrition Month has caused me to rethink my stand on nutrition and health. As I continue my wellness journey I realize my grandchildren need to be educated as well. They aren’t as active as they ought to be. I can’t get them to go outside! Those video games have taken over the world!
Here’s to doing better
Until the next blog, be blessed.
