The Visit

When I had the Aorta ultrasound a few weeks ago, it showed that
my Aorta was fine. But (there is always a but) I had a cyst on my right kidney. I remember an ultrasound a few years ago that showed a cyst on my right kidney. At the time, the doctor I was seeing decided to watch the cyst and, if I started having pain on my right side, to call him.
My present PCP referred me to a urologist for the kidney cyst. Since I didn’t know what a urologist was, I Googled. I saw that a urologist is a medical doctor who specializes in conditions involving the genitourinary system. Okay, what is the genitourinary system? (Genitourinary refers to the genitals and urinary organs or functions.)
I had my appointment with the urologist yesterday. I was apprehensive, but I prayed for good news. Her office was on the third floor. I didn’t want to walk up three flights of stairs, but I was scared of elevators, so much so that I debated getting back in the car.
Once in the urologist’s office, I had to sit briefly to breathe before checking in. Walking up those stairs was a job. I had to fill out some forms, and then the nurse led me to the exam room, where she asked me some of the same medical questions on the forms I had previously filled out.
Anyway, my wellness visit with the urologist was quick. After introducing herself, she told me that my kidney cyst wasn’t currently an issue. I was very relieved. She explained that most kidney cysts aren’t problematic, but make an appointment if the cyst becomes an issue. On my way out, we shook hands, and then she reiterated that I should call her if the cyst started to bother me. I need to stop being negative. I kept thinking something was wrong because my PCP was sending me to a urologist. I was very grateful to God and happy for the report from the urologist. The next thing I have to do is focus more on my diabetes.
Be blessed until the next blog.

  1. Thinking of you. That is a lot to deal with.
